How HopeWorks Works

Hope Works, Inc - Student StudyingWe truly believe that people whose lives have been filled with crime, poverty and irresponsibility can be transformed into hard-working, faith-professing individuals with a renewed outlook on life. But breaking bad cycles and habits from the past takes a strong level of commitment on your part as a student.

To be considered for the next HopeWorks Personal and Career Development Class, individuals must meet these requirements and commit to the following:

  • You must be able to read on a sixth-grade reading level.
Students will be tested during class interviews.
  • You must have been clean and sober for six months prior to beginning your class.
HopeWorks is designed for alcohol- and drug-free adults. Those with less sobriety time may be considered if they are working to stay sober with an established plan.
  • You must be drug-free during the class.
Random drug testing is conducted and, if a student fails the drug test, he or she will be dismissed.
  • You must make all attendance goals.
This means you can only miss 10 percent of the class during the hours that are scheduled.
  • You must fully participate in all class activities.
This goes beyond just attending classes and requires students to work two days per week for six weeks during the last half of the class. These non-paying internships provide real experience and on-the-job training.
  • You must complete the entire class program – even when the going gets tough.
Gaining valuable job readiness skills and establishing new patterns is not easy, but is very rewarding once complete.
