Educational Training
We believe a high school diploma is the minimum education level required to obtain a job in today’s world. After completing our HopeWorks’ training courses, all graduates will have reached that level through completion of a GED or an update on a high school education previously achieved.
The HopeWorks literacy program includes basic computer and academic instruction for students preparing for their employment futures. The goal is to prepare students to pass the GED, the TABE or any entrance test to obtain certification or fulfill employment goals. Instructional services focus on reading and critical thinking. Basic literacy and GED classes are designed to improve each student’s basic level of math and reading skills while enrolled at HopeWorks. The academic program improves the graduate’s ability to perform on the job and allows the individual to seek additional educational opportunities.
For those HopeWorks students who do not have a high school diploma, we offer on-site GED training and work hard to prepare students for this crucial test. We begin with each student at his or her own level of education and strive to advance him or her to the best position to take the test. HopeWorks pays for the testing fee for each GED applicant. GED classes are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for all HopeWorks students and Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 p.m.
