Encouraging the Encouragers
Our Faith Encouragers spend time with our students over lunch, encouraging them in their walk with Christ and helping them through the difficulties they may face during the PCD class.
Here are some ideas we share with them as they encourage their student, and you could use them to encourage someone in your life:
Realize the power of presence; be a supportive presence even when you don’t understand. Show genuine interest in what they share with you.
When you see your student making positive changes in her life affirm her. “You seem to have a really great attitude about ….” “Do you think that you are becoming more….?”
Tell them how they have encouraged you.
Share how God has dealt with you in your life; your personal testimony of overcoming and growth is powerful.
Rejoice with the success they have made
Pray with your students and for them at other times in the week. Let them know you are praying for them.
Review with your student how God was involved in his past and present so he can put the future into perspective.
Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person. Col. 4.6
