A Morning of Hope 2018

Join us as we welcome Andre Norman to speak at our annual fundraising breakfast.

Andre Norman is an accomplished speaker, counselor and advisor from Boston. But not unlike many of our students, Norman’s road to self-empowerment had a few bumps along the way.

Norman was raised in a family that struggled to stay above the poverty line. As one of many children in his large family, his behavior often went unchecked, which led to poor decision making throughout his youth. By the time he was in high school, Norman was participating in illegal activity, which spiraled out of control in his early adulthood. Ultimately, he was arrested on a number of charges and was served a federal prison sentence of 18-25 years.

While in prison, Norman found religious mentors, including a rabbi and two nuns, who helped guide him toward reformation. He became a Christian and worked diligently to change his attitude and perspective – he was intent on becoming a model inmate and going to college upon release.

After serving 14 years, Norman was released. He went to college and was determined to help others make necessary, life-changing decisions. Since his release, Norman has spoken at a number of prestigious organizations on topics varying from prison reform to re-entry support and substance abuse.
