HopeWorks Breakfast with Bill Courtney March 2, 2013

Bill Courtney owned a lumber company in North Memphis and saw on a regular basis poverty in the neighborhood surrounding his business. He decided to help the local inner city football team as a volunteer coach. Coaching and developing relationships go hand in hand. Long story short, he was the subject of the 2012 Academy Award winning best documentary film called “UNDEFEATED” It is set in Memphis. It is real. Bill Courtney is the real deal. A Graduation Celebration

What a wonderful graduation ceremony we celebrated December 6th. We had 33 graduate from the Personal & Career Development class and 32 graduate with their GED. There was so much support and love for our graduates from family and friends. We honored 3 board members, who will be rotating off the board, for their service to HopeWorks: Dan Massie, Harold Redd, and Barbara Taylor. Graduation Thursday December 6th

HopeWorks – Graduation – Thursday December 6th Thirty three (33) students will graduate from HopeWorks this Thursday night. The ceremony is at 6:30 PM at 1930 Union Ave. All faith encouragers and internship providers will be recognized. If you have a free evening and would like to see the celebration of people receiving second chances and feeling loved, then come and join us. It is a good way to spend a couple hours during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season spreading joy and love.

A Visit to Dress for Success

The ladies from the co-ed PCD class visited Dress for Success on November 15 to be suited for job interviews they may have after graduating from HopeWorks in December. Each lady was able to try on and take home a professional outfit, which had been donated. Dress for Success is an international non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of women through professional clothing, employment retention programs, and ongoing support.
