Olivia Williams and Ann King recently celebrated their 8th and 90th birthdays, respectively, in a special way. In the true spirit of the sentiment, “tis better to give than receive,” instead of receiving the traditional birthday gift, both ladies asked guests to bring a donation of any amount to their birthday parties.

From their celebrations, they raised more than $1,000 for HopeWorks, Inc., a Memphis-based organization that serves those in need through outreach programs that develop individual worth, encourage personal responsibility and promote the honor and value of work.
