Internship Opportunities Get New Life
Thanks to Amy Braden, Job Retention Specialist, our internship program is getting new life. Amy has met with current internship providers and is reaching out to businesses that could provide new internship opportunities. She is building a database with a wide variety of jobs to capture most of what students are interested in. Going on an internship experience is an important part of the PCD program; it gives our students exposure to real jobs and an opportunity to practice what they have been learning in class. The current class of students will begin their internship experiences next week.

Jesus Loves Memphis Loves HopeWorks

HopeWorks was one of the sites for this year’s Jesus Loves Memphis service day. About 50 people gave up their Saturday morning to come to HopeWorks and serve. Volunteers painted the computer lab, the lunch room, and down one of the halls. They also installed a new dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen. Another crew worked outside to create new planter beds. Students and staff are appreciative of the hard work our volunteers put in to make HopeWorks a more inviting place to learn and work.

Jobs Update
For the first 10 months of 2104, 96 graduates are now working; many graduated from the PCD program this year, but most are graduates from previous years. We are excited for the new opportunities these jobs represent for our graduates as they continue the path to self-sufficiency.
